SAN DIEGO - San Diego State track and field head coach Shelia Burrell has announced the schedule and competing teams for the 41st annual Aztec Track and Field Invitational. The three-day meet, which will take place from March 21-23, will once again feature some of the top collegiate teams and athletes in the country.

The Aztec Invitational will also include open, invitational, Paralympic and high school competition. The entire meet will take place at the Aztrack on the SDSU Sports Deck except for the men and women's invitational hammer throw and open javelin throw, which will take place on the campus of UC San Diego in nearby La Jolla on the morning of Friday, March 23.

The Aztec Invitational will host some of the best teams on the West Coast and numerous Division I schools, including Oregon, UCLA, Kansas State, Arizona, Wisconsin, Utah, Brigham Young, Air Force, Grand Canyon, UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, and Loyola Marymount. Additionally, many of the area's universities, junior colleges and high schools are expected to join the competition.

"The Aztec Invitational has been a mainstay of high performance, action packed Track and Field for San Diego the past 40 years." Burrell said. "This year will be no exception. The meet is loaded with top NCAA Division I teams once again, so the stage is set for an exciting meet that is destined to set high, early season marks."

The combined events kick starts the meet off on Thursday, March 21 with the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon. On Friday, March 22 will be the invitational hammer and open javelin at UCSD, while the rest of open meet competition and the final day of the multi-events will take place at SDSU during the day. Friday evening is the distance carnival, which will also include a National Federation of the State High School Associations (NFHS) sanctioned high school mile. The invitational meet and high school sections as well as Paralympic events will wrap up the meet on Saturday, March 23.
