SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State swimming and diving team finished its 2018-19 home schedule with a 143.5 - 139.5 win over Fresno State at the Aztec Aquaplex on Friday morning. 

Alma Thormalm was SDSU's top point scorer, winning both the 50 free (23.95) and 100 free (51.60). The Aztecs started the meet off winning each of the first eight events and logged the top time in 13 of a possible 14 swimming events. 

SDSU started the morning off win a first and second place finish in the 200 medley relay. Elli Ferrin, Klara Thormalm, Courtney Vincent, and Alma Thormalm teamed up for a first-place time of 1:45.48, while Maude Boily-Dufour, Caitlin Delaney, Lizzie Menzmer and Sammy Geyer posted a second-place time of 1:47.16.

Mia Ryan collected the first-place crown in the 1000 free, finishing in 10:24.25. McKenna Meyer (1:53.87), Kassidy Henson (1:55.26), Peyton Wilson (1:55.95) and Anna Stahlak (1:56.53) claimed the first through fourth spots, respectively, in the 200 free.

Ferrin and Boily-Dufour finished first and second, respectively, in the 100 back with times of 57.77 and 58.50. SDSU followed that by claiming each of the top four spots in the 100 breast, including top-finisher Morganne McKennan (1:04.07), Kristina Murphy (1:04.33), Klara Thormalm (1:04.67), and Caitlin Delany (1:05.11). 

In her final home meet, senior Rachael Kelch collected the 200 fly crown, using a time of 2:06.26 to edge out Fresno State's top finisher Zofie Niemczak, who touched the wall at 2:06.35.

Klara Thormalm recorded her first individual top finish of the day in the 200 breast, finishing at 2:16.25. 

Ryan collected her second top finish in the 500 free, finishing at 5:02.83 and just edging out her teammate Meyer, who finished second at 5:03.06.

Vincent posted the morning's top 100 fly time, finishing at 55.57. Murphy finished off the individual events by claiming the 200 IM title, touching the wall at 2:06.34.

SDSU's 200 free relay team of Larisa Tam,  Geyer, Cathy Cooper, and Murphy collectively recorded the top time of 1:35.61.

Fresh off her second Mountain West Diver of the Week award, Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez grabbed the top spot in 1-meter competition with a score of 262.50. Emily Reed posted SDSU's top 3-meter score, registering a 274.20.

The Aztecs now stand 11-0 in dual meets this season and are 35-1 in their last 36 dual meets dating back to the early stages of the 2015-16 campaign.

The SDSU swimmers make the quick trip to University of San Diego for a dual meet next Friday, Jan. 18 beginning at 12:00 p.m. The Aztec divers will participate in the UCLA Diving Invitational in Los Angeles, also beginning next Friday.
