SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State swimming and diving team finishes off 2018 with a 9:00 a.m. meet against Incarnate Word and Oregon State on Monday, Dec. 31 at the Aztec Aquaplex. The Aztecs enter the New Year's Eve meet a perfect 8-0 in dual meets this season.
Last time out, the Aztecs recorded the fastest time in 11 of a possible 14 swimming events while freshman Ximena Lechuga Gonzalez recorded first-place finishes in both 1-meter (306.15) and 3-meter (317.33) action, recording the fifth-best scores in program history in both events.
The Aztecs remain 40th in College Swimming's national rankings and are currently the highest ranked Mountain West team. Through the first half of the season, Alma Thormalm has proved to be the conference's best short-distance performer, owning the best marks in the Mountain West this season in both the 50 free (22.79) and 100 free (48.81). Alma's younger sister, Klara, has also proved to be one of the conference's top performers, owning MW-bests 1:00.43 in the 100 breast and 2:11.72 in the 200 breast a season after earning Freshman of the Meet honors at the MW Championships.
Courtney Vincent has the Mountain West's top times in both the 100 fly and 200 fly, having times of 52.18 and 1:59.59, respectively. McKenna Meyer has the conference's top time in the 400 IM at 4:15.03.
SDSU hosts Oregon State 366 days after facing the Beavers last, where the Aztecs took down OSU, 124-100. SDSU enters Monday having won five consecutive dual meets against OSU.
Following Monday's meet, the Aztecs will conclude their home schedule on Friday, Jan. 11 against Fresno State. The Aztecs-Bulldogs meet is set to start at 10:00 a.m.
