SAN DIEGO – Head coach Mike Shrader and recruiting coordinator Stephen Allnutt have announced San Diego State's 2019 recruiting class. The group features six swimmers and one diver for a total of seven signees from six different states.
 
Chloe Best – Diver – Westchester, N.Y. – The Ursuline School
PREP CAREER: Has competed for Marlins Diving Club under coach Iordache Lindsay since 2011… Placed third at the 2018 YMCA Championships on the 3-meter board for the 16-21 age group… Recorded a 14th-place finish at the 2018 USA Diving Zone A Championships.
 
PERSONAL: Daughter of Tim and Kristin Best… Enjoys traveling and being outdoors… Plans on majoring in marketing at SDSU… Lists retired Jamaican bobsledder Devon Harris as her favorite athlete.
 
Emily Gebhardt – Free/Fly – Lafayette, Calif. – Acalanes HS
PREP CAREER: Four-year letterwinner at Acalanes High School in Lafayette, Calif… Coached there by Scott Mendelsson… Three-time all-American, North Coast Section Scholar-Athlete and CIF Scholar Athlete… Member of three relay teams that own high school records… Owns top three times in Acalanes HS history in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, and 200 fly.
 
PERSONAL: Daughter of Beth and Jim Gebhardt… Her father, Jim, played golf at the University of Rochester… Volunteers as a swim instruction for Sea Serpents, a program that helps mentally and physically disabled children and adults learn how to swim… Also competed in water polo during freshman and sophomore years of high school… Enjoys drawing… Plans on majoring in communications at SDSU… Lists Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry as her favorite athlete.f
 
Sophia Harrison – Free/Fly – Honolulu, Hawaii – Henry J. Kaiser HS
PREP CAREER: Four-year letter winner at Henry J. Kaiser HS… Coached there by Asa Tanaka… Earned first place in the 200 fly (2:25.10) in the Hawaiian Swimming Age Group Long Course State Championships last July…  Earned second place in the Hawaiian Swimming Senior Fall Championships in the 100 fly (56.31)… Also posted a second-place finish in the 100 free (59.27) in the Hawaiian Swimming Age Group Long Course State Championships… Ranks as the sixth best swimmer in Hawaii according to College Swimming.
 
PERSONAL: Daughter of Sean and Shannon Harrison… Sister of former Aztec swimmer Summer Harrison, who competed for SDSU from 2014-18 and owns the school record in the 200 fly… Also participated in cheerleading and water polo in high school… Enjoys photography and drawing… Studying psychology at SDSU.
 
Paige Mitchell – Free/Fly – Saint Louis, Mo. – Ladue Horton Watkins HS
PREP CAREER: Two-year letterwinner at Ladue Horton Watkins High School in Saint Louis, Missouri… Coached there by Dave McCrary… Owns her high school's 500 free and 200 free records.
 
PERSONAL: Daughter of Glenn Mitchell… Comes from a strong athletic family background, with her sister, Emma, being a softball player at Seattle University and her mother being a former field hockey player at Villanova… Member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta… Won the High School Character award twice… Enjoys photography, pilates, and yoga… Plans on majoring in public health with aspirations to work in the medical field… Lists Saint Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina as her favorite athlete.
 
Christy Neufeld – Free/Fly – Livermore, Calif. – Carondelet HS
PREP CAREER: Three-year letter winner at Carondelet High School in Concord, California… Coached there by Dan Cottam… Owns her club team's top record in the 200 free (LCM) at 2:06.91 and 100 fly (LCM) at 1:04.58.
 
PERSONAL: Daughter of Jerry and Kimberly Neufeld… Honor roll student in high school… Member of the American Sign Language club and California Cattleman's Association… Enjoys photography, writing, yoga, horseback riding and raising cows… Majoring in Speech and Hearing Sciences at SDSU… Aspires to work in a hospital as a speech language pathologist.
 
Evonne Stehr – Free/IM – Colville, Wash. – Colville HS
PREP CAREER: Competed for Spokane Waves Club and attended Colville High School in Colville, Washington… Coached by Sean Muncie… Earned All-American honors for club team and currently owns the 50 free and 100 free records.
 
PERSONAL: Daughter of Oline and Deney Stehr… Member of National Honor Society… Also competed in track at Colville HS… Enjoys snowboarding and photography… Aspires to be a mental and physical health counselor.
 
Riley Tapley – Back/Fly – Superior, Colo. – Fairview HS
PREP CAREER: Three-year letterwinner at Fairview High School in Boulder, Colorado… Coached there by Bob Smartt… Three-time all-region selection… Has recorded a top-10 time in state championships in the 100 back in three consecutive years… Posted a sixth-place finish at the CHSAA Championships in the 100 fly in 2018… Member of a team-record 200 medley team… Led team to a state championship in 2016 and state runner-up finishes in 2017 and 2018… Two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.
 
PERSONAL: Daughter of Marlo and Alan Tapley… Works part-time teaching swim lessons… Majoring in Kinesiology at SDSU with aspirations to be a physical therapist… Lists Olympian Katie Ledecky as her favorite athlete.
