Eight Aztecs Honored by Pac-12 for Academics

SAN DIEGO – Eight members of the Aztec men's soccer team were recognized by the Pac-12 for their hard work in the classroom. Goalkeeper Cameron Hogg was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic second team and seven Aztecs received honorable mention.

Hogg, a redshirt senior from Auckland, New Zealand, has a 3.60 cumulative GPA as a kinesiology major. He appeared in 13 matches and had 38 saves and two shutouts. He ended the season on a high note when he recorded a career-high seven saves en route to a 1-0 shutout at UCLA.

Pablo Pelaez, the Aztecs' captain and leader in points (15) and goals (6), was an honorable mention selection. He has a 3.23 cumulative GPA as an interdisciplinary studies major.

Senior Ilai Shvika (Qirat Tivon, Israel), also an interdisciplinary studies major, was honored for his 3.21 GPA. The senior defender started all 18 games for the Aztecs.

Emil Kjellker (Hollviken, Sweden), who was third on the team in minutes played (1,306) despite missing a match, holds a 3.27 GPA as an economics major.

A pair of redshirt freshmen business administration majors were recognized as well: Laukoa Santos (3.27 GPA) and Reagan Sherlock (3.20 GPA). Also honored were defenders Mac Clarke (3.37 GPA; political science) and Dane Rozas (3.30 GPA, business administration).
