SAN DIEGO STATE AZTECS (7-4; 0-0 MW) vs. BROWN BEARS (8-4; 0-0 Ivy League)
Sat., Dec. 29 :: 5 p.m. PT :: Steve Fisher Court at Viejas Arena (12,414) :: San Diego, Calif.
SCENE SETTER (through the games of Tue., Dec. 25)
* San Diego State continues a three-game homestand to close out non-conference play with a Saturday matinee against Ivy League member Brown.
* The Aztecs and Bears are meeting for just the second time in school history, with Brown owning a 71-64 victory on Dec. 28, 1979 (on game night, 39 years ago yesterday) at the Sports Arena (now Pechanga Arena).
* The Aztecs are welcoming an Ivy League member to Viejas Arena for just the second time in the venue's 22 seasons. SDSU defeated Columbia, 75-59, on Dec. 31, 2001.
* San Diego State is looking for a season-best three-game win streak. The Aztecs previous two attempts to extend two-game win streaks have been thwarted by No. 1 Duke and San Diego.
* San Diego State ranks seventh nationally in three-point field goal percentage at 41.3 percent. Only once have the Aztecs ended a campaign with a higher percentage from beyond the arc (43.7 percent in 1987-88). In the last 17 seasons, only once has SDSU ended the season ranked above 101st nationally (12th in 2005-06).
* The Aztecs are one of 46 teams nationally (remember, there are 351 Division I teams) to hold its opponents to 41.0 percent field goal shooting and 30.7 percent three-point shooting.
* SDSU has scored 90 or more points in consecutive games for the first time since Nov. 30 and Dec. 2, 2000. The Aztecs have scored 83 or more points in three straight games for the first time since Dec. 6, 8, 15, 1990.
* San Diego State is 16-5 in its last 21 games - regardless of location - dating back to last season.
* San Diego State is 14-3 in its last 17 contests against teams that were not ranked in the AP Top 25 at game time.
* Second-year head coach Brian Dutcher is looking for his 30th victory since taking over prior to the 2017-18 campaign. A win would make him the fastest person to claim 30 wins at SDSU in the Division I era and the fastest to get to the 30-win plateau since C.E. Peterson guided SDSU to a 30-13 record in the first 43 game in program history (1921-22 and 1922-23 seasons). Assuming the Aztecs win at least one of their next 15 games, he will be the first Aztecs head coach to have a winning record at the time of his 30th win since Tim Vezie was 30-25 (started in 1974-75 seasons). Two-time national coach of the year Steve Fisher began his tenure at SDSU with a 30-43 mark.
