SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women's tennis head coach Peter Mattera announced today the signing of Julia Jordan to a National Letter of Intent. The incoming freshman is set to join the Aztecs next fall for the 2019-20 campaign.

"Julia is everything that we look for in a recruit," Mattera said. "She has been ranked as high as No. 42 on the Babolat Tennis Recruiting list and has had tremendous success in the Southern California section and in the nation. Julia also has international experience playing in both France and Mexico. In addition to her competitive success, Julia has received numerous sportsmanship awards, which points to her outstanding character as a human being."

Jordan, a native of Long Beach, Calif., has established a successful junior career, competing mostly in United States Tennis Association (USTA) Southern California tournaments and USTA national-level events, and has logged a number of important wins including one over the Women's Tennis Association's No. 161. Jordan currently attends Laurel Springs School in Ojai, Calif.

"Julia Jordan is a great player, an outstanding student and best of all, a wonderful person," Mattera said. "The San Diego State tennis family is very excited to have her join us next fall."

Jordan joins an Aztec women's tennis program that has seen years of success on the court and in the classroom, boasting 11 conference championships, 80 academic all-MW Conference awards and three Academic All-Americans during Mattera's time as head coach.
