SAN DIEGO -- Keshad Johnson, a 6-7 forward from Oakland, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend San Diego State, men's basketball coach Brian Dutcher announced today.
Johnson, who currently attends San Leandro High School, received scholarship offers from Big East, American and Mountain West schools before electing to sign with the Aztecs.
"We are excited to welcome Keshad and his family to our San Diego State University family," Dutcher said. "Keshad is a gifted, athletic, talented basketball player who continues to show tremendous growth in his game. Equally important, he possesses the high-character traits that we cherish in this program and will endear him to the Aztec community."
Johnson, designated a three-star recruit by all of the major recruiting services, is listed as one of the top 25 prep players in the state by ESPN. Last season, he led Envision Academy to the 2018 CIF State Boys Basketball Division V playoffs and an upset victory in the first round of the playoffs. During his 2017-18 season at Envision Academy, he averaged 24.0 points, 12.4 rebounds, 4.2 blocked shots, 3.4 assists and 2.8 steals per game.
Johnson will join Washington State transfer Malachi Flynn, who will have two years of eligibility remaining, as additions to San Diego State's basketball team for the 2019-20 campaign.
Off to a 2-0 start for the first time in four seasons, San Diego State will participate in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational next week.
