SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State swimming and diving team is set for its biggest test of the 2018-19 season so far, traveling to the Mizzou Invite hosted by the University of Missouri running from Thursday, Nov. 15 until Saturday, Nov. 17. The Aztecs will compete against Missou, Arkansas, BYU, California Baptist, Drury, Florida International, McKendree, Oklahoma Baptist, and Southern Illinois. Mountain West foes Boise State and Wyoming will also participate in diving events only.

SDSU has enjoyed a stellar start to the 2018-19 campaign, including most recently defeating UC San Diego, UC Davis, and Boise State in La Jolla on Oct. 19. The Aztecs also logged a second-place finish at the Chick-fil-A Invitational hosted by Fresno State on Oct. 6, placing only behind 2017-18 national runner-up California. SDSU started its season with early-season dual meet wins over San Diego and Pepperdine in addition to a first-place finish in a relay meet against Washington State and Nevada.

In last year's November invitational meet, SDSU cruised to a first-place finish at the A3 Invitational hosted by UC San Diego at the Aztec Aquaplex. SDSU finished with 1,671 points, good for a 153.5-point margin of victory over second-place UCSD. McKenna Meyer was named Female Swimmer of the Meet after recording four first-place times to be the meet's highest total point scorer.

With the Aztecs nearing the halfway point of their 2018-19 season, SDSU has several student-athletes ranking inside the top three times for their respective events. Klara Thormalm and Kristina Murphy are first and second, respectively, with times of 2:15.27 and 2:15.35 in the 200 breast, while Courtney Vincent's time of 54.49 in the 100 fly is best among all MW swimmers. Meyer also has a top time of her own, with her time of 4:21.88 in the 400 IM being tops in the conference.

Murphy and Meyer also rank near the top in the 200 IM, owning times of 2:04.23 and 2:04.63 for second and third in the conference, respectively. Vincent's time of 2:03.67 in the 200 fly is the third best in the conference, while Murphy's third top-three time comes in the 100 breast, where she recorded a time of 1:03.23 on Oct. 19.

On the diving board, Marie Yacopino (291.45), Ximena Lechuga (285.15), and Delaney Gallagher (282.25) rank sixth, seventh, and 10th in the conference on the 1-meter board. Having earned Mountain West Diver of the Week honors earlier this season, Gallagher also owns the 12th best 3-meter score in the Mountain West this season, owning a season-best 278.55 from a first-place finish at the Chick-fil-A Invitational.

Following this week's meet, SDSU returns home for a stretch of four consecutive dual meets at home including a meet against Pepperdine on Nov. 30.
