SAN DIEGO – San Diego State allowed a goal in the 52nd minute and could not find the equalizer in the final 38 minutes as it fell to Boise State, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at SDSU Sports Deck.

The contest between the preseason favorites (San Diego State) and the current conference leader (Boise State) was evenly played. SDSU held a slight edge in shots (15-13), attempting one more than the Broncos in each half, and in saves (6-5). Boise State, meanwhile, finished with advantages in shots on goal (7-5) and corner kicks (4-2). Each team was whistled for nine fouls.

The Broncos' only corner kick of the second half resulted in their lone goal. After playing a scoreless 51 minutes, Boise State earned a corner with Eva Herrera set to take the attempt. The senior sent her service to the far side and Macie Nelson pushed her shot past SDSU goalkeeper Gabby English for her first score of the season.

San Diego State (4-8-2; 2-2-2 Mountain West) created numerous chances throughout the day with freshman Florence Laroche taking responsibility for three within a 53-second span late in the second half. The forward first headed a ball that Tara Fisher saved, but could not corral. The BSU (11-2-1; 5-0-1 MW) misfortune nearly became SDSU's fortune as the rebound went right back to Laroche, but the high carom ended in the freshman sending her lofting shot about a foot over the crossbar. Then in the 81st minute, Laroche's laser was wide right.

The aforementioned attempts would be the last time the Aztecs would be heard from the rest of the way. Laroche turned in a game-high four shots and sophomore Chloe Frisch added three with a team-best two coming on net.

QUOTE
"I felt like we played really well today. We're going to have to be able to get a result after creating the kind of chances that we had this afternoon. We didn't take some of the chances that we earned and passed balls when maybe we shouldn't have. Boise State did a good job of sticking their chance away and then defending well enough to keep us out of the back of the net. Overall, I was pretty pleased with how we played. In the grand scheme of the season, it's difficult to swallow because we haven't had the results that we normally have." – head coach Mike Friesen
