KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Both San Diego State soccer programs earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for 2017-18, the organization announced on Thursday. It is the fourth time the men have been recognized and the second time for the women.

With both squads picking up the award, SDSU is one of 191 schools nationally to have both its men's and women's programs earn the annual accolade.

The award is the fourth in men's history and first since 2015-16. As for the women, it marks their second such honor and first since 2013-14.

United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of high school and college soccer teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year.

College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster.
