Aztec Storylines

  • The Aztecs were recently recognized by Top Drawer Soccer for having a top 20 2019 recruiting class. Head coach Lev Kirshner credited assistant coach Josh Hill for this accolade, "His relentless pursuit of top players who fit our values deserves so much credit to this ranking." Stanford (No. 2) and UCLA (No. 10) also made the list.
  • The Aztecs have not allowed a Pac-12 opponent to attempt more than 11 shots in a game. Through seven conference matches, the Aztecs are only being outshot 66-62.
  •  Damian German is tied for second in the conference with three game-winning goals this season.
  • Pablo Pelaez, the Aztecs' leader in goals (6) and points (15), is sixth in the Pac-12 in points per game (1.07) and in goals per game (0.43).
  • Two is the magic number for the Aztecs. They are 5-0-0 when they score two or more goals and 0-6-0 when they allow two or more goals.
  • The Aztecs have not given up a first half goal in Pac-12 play. However, they have allowed 10 in the second half. SDSU also has not scored a goal in the first frame in a conference match.
  • The Pac-12 currently has four of their six teams ranked in top 30 in RPI. Stanford has the best RPI at No. 7 and is followed by UCLA (No. 23), Oregon State (No. 25) and Washington (No. 27).
  • The Aztecs will honor its four seniors before Sunday's game against California: Defenders Aleks Berkolds and Ilai Shvika, forward Damain German and goalkeeper Cameron Hogg.
