LARAMIE, Wyo. – The San Diego State volleyball team (7-18, 5-7 Mountain West) fell to conference foe Wyoming (16-7, 8-4 Mountain West) on Saturday night in straight sets (14-25, 19-25, 19-25) at the UniWyo Sports Complex.
The Aztecs suffered from a slow start, recording a .061 hitting percentage in the first set after posting nine kills against seven errors. With the Cowgirls holding a 17-10 advantage, Wyoming went on a 5-0 run to put the set out of reach before ultimately claiming the first, 25-14.
Despite Hannah Turnlund's team-high five kills and .500 hitting percentage through the first two sets, the Cowgirls grew their advantage to 2-0 with a 25-19 second-set win.
The Cowgirls duplicated their second-set performance in the third set, winning by an identical score of 25-19, to clinch a 3-0 win.
Both Turnlund and Victoria O'Sullivan led the Aztecs with eight kills each. Delaney Taylor and Gabi Peoples split time at setter with 11 and 17 assists, respectively, while Loren Teter and Tamia Reeves led the defensive effort with 12 digs and four blocks, respectively.
NOTES
- SDSU falls to 6-4 in its last 10 matches.
- Despite being 8-2 in their last 10 home matches against Wyoming, SDSU is still in search of its first road win against the Cowgirls since the 2009 season.
- Wyoming improves to 12-1 at home this season.
