CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Aztec men's soccer team lost at Oregon State 1-0 Thursday afternoon. The Beavers scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 69th minute.

The Aztecs and Beavers each had 10 shots, extending SDSU's season-long streak of holding Pac-12 opponents to 10 shots or less.

Both teams played solid defense throughout the match, but especially in the first half as neither squad had a shot on goal in the first frame. The Beavers did not attempt a shot until the 32nd minute.

The Aztecs' best opportunity came in the 59th minute when Ilai Shvika sent a cross from the left end line. Adam Vargas played a header to the far post, but the OSU keeper was able to make a fantastic diving save to preserve the shutout.

In the 69th minute, AJ Valenzuela was whistled for a ticky-tack foul in the far corner of the box, which set up a penalty kick for Don Tchilao, who was able to convert for the game-winning goal.

With the loss, the Aztecs fall to 1-5-0 in Pac-12 play. SDSU and OSU split their two meetings with each team winning 1-0 at home.
