Game Week Preview
New Mexico (10-5-2; 6-2-2 MW) at San Diego State (6-9-3; 4-3-3 MW)
Friday, Oct. 26 | 7 p.m. PT | Mountain West Network | SDSU Sports Deck | San Diego, Calif.

Notes
- San Diego State will play host to New Mexico on Friday in the Aztecs' regular-season finale. The Senior Night game is set for a 7 p.m. PT start atop SDSU Sports Deck. Admission, along with the Mountain West Network stream, is free.

- The Aztecs currently sit in sixth place in the Mountain West standings, holding the final spot for next week's MW Championship to be held in San Jose. An SDSU win vs. New Mexico would clinch a spot in the conference tournament field.

- SDSU could secure a spot in the Mountain West tourney without a victory on Friday, but would need a host of other factors to come in play. With a draw, the Aztecs (15 points) would need UNLV (14 points) and Colorado College (14 points) to either lose or tie in their respective games. The Rebels are at last-place Nevada and the Tigers play host to 10th-place Air Force. Losses by SDSU, UNLV and Colorado Colllege would also keep the Aztecs in the field. A San Diego State tie or loss, coupled with a UNLV and/or CC win boots the Aztecs out of the tournament. If all three teams end in a tie in the standings, a head-to-head determination will be used to break the deadlock.

- San Diego State moved into a position of controlling its own Mountain West tournament destiny after going 1-0-1 last week. The Aztecs played 110 minutes and finished in a 1-1 tie with Colorado College only to return to SDSU Sports Deck and defeat Air Force, 5-0.

- In the draw vs. the Tigers, Chloe Frisch got the Aztecs on the scoreboard in the opening moments, taking a Nikolina Musto pass and depositing her shot into the back of the net. The sixth-minute goal was the sophomore's second of the season and gave Musto her team-best third assist of the year.

- Frisch also played in a role in San Diego State's dominating win over the Falcons. The Solana Beach native went on a run down the left side of the pitch and centered a pass to the on-rushing Darcy Weiser, who one-timed her shot past the AFA goalkeeper. The 41st-minute goal ended up being the game-winner and the assist gave Frisch a team-best seven points.

- Joining Weiser in the scoring column vs. Air Force was Phoebe Leitch, Laura Fuentes and Malia Kaleiohi. The quartet turned a 1-0 advantage in to a 5-0 rout in a matter of 15 minutes in the second half. Fuentes connected with Leitch in the 65th minute. Fuentes scored in the 67th, Weiser added a second in the 74th and Kaleiohi put the final touches on the scoring in the 80th with her first career goal. The last three goals were all unassisted.

- San Diego State's five goals were a season high and its most since a 6-0 win over Utah State on Aug. 21, 2015. It also marked the Aztecs' most in a Mountain West game since they defeated Wyoming, 5-2, on Oct. 24, 2014.

- Weiser was named the MW Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts vs. the Tigers and Falcons. Against Colorado College, the junior played 101 of a possible 110 minutes and took the second-most shots on the team (2). Then vs. Air Force, she scored a career-high two goals on a game-high four shots. Weiser, who entered the season with two career goals, now has a team-high-tying three. The award is the first of her career and the first of 2018 for the Aztecs.

- Leitch's goal vs. Air Force temporarily put her in the lead for most goals this season. The sophomore posted her third of the year in the 65th minute on a beautiful bending shot from 16 yards out. Fuentes, who assisted on the play, soon tied Leitch with her third goal of the season just 2 minutes, 33 seconds later. The duo was later joined by Weiser in the 74th minute.

- The Aztecs have played well historically in the month of October. Since the 2009 season, San Diego State has compiled a 56-12-9 record, good for a .786 winning percentage. More recently, SDSU has won at a .796 clip, posting a 40-8-6 record since 2012.

- San Diego State will look to build on its recent momentum and its history of excellent play in the month of October against a New Mexico team that it defeated twice last season. The Aztecs earned a 4-3 double-overtime road victory in last year's regular-season finale before shutting out the Lobos, 3-0, in the Mountain West championship game in Las Vegas.

- SDSU is 13-7-7 all-time vs. New Mexico and has won six of the last eight meetings (6-2), including the last two. The Aztecs, however, have lost two straight at home to the Lobos, both by 2-1 scores. The most recent get-together was an overtime loss in 2016. San Diego State will carry a 6-3-1 home record vs. UNM into Friday night's game.

- Prior to the contest, the Aztecs will recognize Nikolina Musto and Kate Hart. Musto is a senior who has played the last two seasons at SDSU after transferring from Idaho State. In 40 games in an Aztec uniform, she has accumulated three assists from her midfield/forward position. For her career, she has six goals and 11 assists. Hart, meanwhile, has been on campus for four seasons. An invaluable member of the program, she has seen action in three games, but none more important than last Sunday vs. Air Force when she started for the first time and produced a shutout with six saves.
