NEWS AND NOTES (through games of Sept. 15)
* For the third consecutive weekend the Aztecs entertain a non-conference opponent at SDCCU Stadium as San Diego State will face Eastern Michigan for the first time in school history on Saturday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.
* In the Division I era, San Diego State owns a 7-0-1 record against teams that called the MAC home at the time of the game and are 12-0-1 all-time against the current league membership. Three of those victories have come under Rocky Long - Buffalo (Idaho Potato Bowl, 2013), at Northern Illinois (2016) and vs. Northern Illinois (2017).
* On Saturday, San Diego State defeated a nationally ranked opponent for the second consecutive season (first time in school history), with a 28-21 win over No. 23/25 Arizona State. The Aztecs never trailed in the second half and held ASU to 123 total yards and seven first downs after intermission.
* San Diego State's opponents to date are 6-0 in games (not including the game against the Aztecs), and counting Eastern Michigan this week, its opponents own victories over USC, Michigan State and at Purdue. Two of SDSU's three opponents to date have been nationally ranked at the time of the game.
* San Diego State is 17-3 in its last 20 home games dating back to Oct. 3, 2015. During that stretch, the Aztecs have outscored its opposition, 637-363 (average: 31.9-18.2), and has a remarkable 4,859-2,206 advantage in rushing yards (average: 242.3-110.3). Also, SDSU owns a +13 edge in turnover margin over that span.
* Junior RB Juwan Washington posted his third consecutive 100-yard rushing game and the fifth 100-yard effort of his career with 138 yards, a touchdown and a 5.1 yards per carry against an Arizona State team that entered the game as the nation's top rushing defense statistically. Through three weeks, the Maxwell Award candidate leads the nation in forced missed tackles (28, nine more than any other RB in the nation according to Pro Football Focus), and is third in rushing yards after contact (291), fourth in rushing yards per game (150.7), fifth in all-purpose yards per game (190.0) and ninth in rushing TDs (5).

* Junior quarterback Ryan Agnew, who became the first quarterback from a Group of 5 school to defeat a nationally ranked Power 5 school in his first career start since 2009, was 12-for-24 for 129 yards, one touchdown, a 2-point conversion through the air and no interceptions. He also rushed nine times for 36 yards.
* Senior RT Ryan Pope had an outstanding game on Saturday. Pope allowed no QB pressures of any kind on 33 pass block snaps and also was the highest graded run blocker on the team according to PFF. He was the highest-graded player in the game and it graded out as the best all-around performance of Pope's career.
