SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women's tennis head coach Peter Mattera revealed his team's schedule for the 2018-19 season, which begins with three fall tournaments before regular season dual play kicks off in January 2019. The Aztecs will also be hosting the Mountain West Women's Tennis Championships in late April 2019.
The Scarlet and Black are set to open the fall campaign with a pair of fall tournaments at home – the SDSU Fall Classic I and Fall Classic II – which are scheduled for Sept. 28-30 and Nov. 9-11, respectively. Between the Fall Classics, SDSU will compete at the ITA Southwest Regionals from Oct. 18-22 at the Barnes Tennis Center in the Point Loma area.
The Aztecs kick off their regular season dual matches on Jan. 20, 2019, when they play host to Sacramento State at the Aztec Tennis Center. The team will face two additional opponents at home in the month of January when they welcome UC San Diego on Jan. 27 and UC Riverside on Jan. 28.
SDSU continues play into February with its fourth and fifth straight home contests against Long Beach State and California on Feb. 1 and 2, respectively.
Following its match against the Golden Bears, the Aztecs play their first road match when they visit Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 9, returning home to face Cal Poly at the ATC the next day, Feb. 10. The team plays two more home duals against Arizona State (Feb. 16) and Hawai'i (Feb. 19) prior to its remaining non-conference road matches.
SDSU finishes play for the month of February by making a trip across I-8 to the University of San Diego on Feb. 23, and travels to Los Angeles to play the University of Southern California on Feb. 26.
The Aztecs are schedule to play at home for the entire month of March when they welcome five non-conference and two Mountain West opponents to the Mesa. Opponents during the team's seven-match home stand include Middle Tennessee State (March 8), University of the Pacific (March 10), Quinnipiac University (March 13), University of Houston (March 15), Yale (March 19), Colorado State (March 21) and Fresno State (March 29).
SDSU hits the road the first weekend in April for its two road conference matchups at San José State (April 5) and Nevada (April 7). The team returns home for its final weekend of regular season play to take on MW foe UNLV on April 13, and Cal State Northridge on April 14.
For the first time since 2012, the Aztecs will host the MW Women's Tennis Championships at the Aztec Tennis Center. The tournament is slated to begin April 25 and will run through April 28.
