SDSU To Host Conference Baseball, Track Championships

San Diego - San Diego State will play host to both the 2001 Mountain West Conference BaseballTournament and the MWC Men's and Women's Track Championships May 16-19.The baseball tournament will take place at Tony Gwynn Stadium while the track event will be held at the SDSU Sports Deck.

Although final pairings for baseball will not be determined until next weekend's play is completed, it is known that San Diego State will open play Wednesday (May 16) at 7:00 p.m. Games start at 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. each day Wednesday through Friday, with Saturday's contests at 3:00 p.m. and (if necessary) 7:00 p.m. All day passes for the baseball tournament are $8.00 ($5.00 for 18 and under) with tourney passes for all games available for $25.00 ($15 for 18 and under).

The conference track meet gets underway with the decathlon (men) and heptathlon (women) starting at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday (May 16) and noon Thursday (May 17). There is no charge for admission for either of those days.

Preliminary qualifying for the running and remaining field events begins Friday (May 18) at 3:00 p.m. with the finals on Saturday starting at 1:00 p.m. Day passes for the track championships are $7.00 for adults ($5.00 for 18 and under) with all session passes available for $12 for adults ($10.00 for 18 and under).

Ticket stubs from either one of these championships are good for a discount at the other event.
