SDSU Student-Athletes Earn Academic Honors
2004 San Diego State All-Academic Honorees in PDF Format July 15, 2004 SAN DIEGO - Forty-three Aztec athletes have been honored for their work in the classroom, earning spots on the Mountain West Conference all-academic team for the 2004 spring semester. This year's honorees surpassed SDSU's total of 32 for the same period a year ago. In order to be selected, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at SDSU while earning a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their respective team. San Diego State's women's track and field squad had 14 of its members honored, while the Aztec swimming and diving team followed with eight selections. Included on the conference all-academic team was Aztec baseball senior Rielly Embrey (Poway, Calif./Poway High School). Embrey, a first-team Academic All-America selection, finished his undergraduate studies with a cumulative GPA of 3.98 in Kinesiology and was also awarded one of 58 NCAA postgraduate scholarships. |
