SDSU Prepares For NCAA Ticket Lottery April 28, 2000 Ticket sales for the 2001 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, scheduled for Cox Arena next March, will end today with the demand far exceeding the arena's capacity. As of Wednesday, ticket requests, including the NCAA ticket allotment, was nearing 21,000. Cox Arena will have a seating capacity of 11,696 for the event. In May, the university will conduct a random lottery to award tickets. All applicants will be notified of their status by June 1st. Those who do not receive tickets, but have incurred charges, will be reimbursed by that time. "We are gratified by the demand for tickets," said SDSU athletic director Rick Bay. "It bodes well for future opportunities with the NCAA as well as for our own basketball program as it becomes more competitive." The first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament will be held on the San Diego State campus March 15th and 17th. It marks the first NCAA Tournament games in San Diego since the 1975 Final Four. |
