San Diego State Athletics Announces Cancellation Of Several Events This Week Oct. 29, 2003 SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State Department of Athletics has announced the cancellation of several home events this week due to the recent fires and poor air quality in the San Diego area. The women's soccer game (Oct. 31), the Mountain West Conference men's and women's cross country meet (Nov. 1), the women's softball games (Nov. 1), the women's swimming meet (Nov.1) and the men's and women's basketball open house (Nov. 1) have all been cancelled. The Aztec women's volleyball matches with Colorado State (Oct. 30) and Wyoming (Nov. 1) will be played as scheduled. The 2003 Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships, originally slated for Sat., Nov. 1 at Morley Field, have been moved to Albuquerque, N.M. The University of New Mexico will play host to the meet at the UNM North Golf Course, with the men's 8K race slated to begin at 10 a.m. MST and the women's 6K race set for 11 a.m. MST. The Aztec women's soccer game with non-conference foe Gonzaga, the SDSU softball game with Loyola Marymount, as well as the men's and women's basketball open house will not be rescheduled. The make-up dates for the swimming meet against the University of San Diego and the softball game with Point Loma Nazarene are still to be determined.
