SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Rick Bay, San Diego State's executive director of athletics, announced the hiring of Scott Wetherbee as the new director of ticket operations. Wetherbee is replacing Vicki Ihde, who is retiring after 22 years of service.

Wetherbee brings over five years of ticket managing experience to SDSU. He worked as an assistant at Western Michigan University, Ball State University and Fresno State. Wetherbee served as ticket manager at Fresno State from March of 2000 until July 10, 2002, when he was hired by the Aztecs. While at Fresno State, Wetherbee directed all ticket sales and operations for over 100 Bulldog events each year. He possesses impressive computer skills, as he is proficient in the Paciolan Ticketing System, TicketMaster Ticketing System, and created, designed and maintained Fresno State's first on-line ticket office. Wetherbee believes that he was hired by San Diego State because of his computer skills.

"I think my computer background is what brought me to San Diego State," Wetherbee said. "I plan to keep the office up to speed with the constant technological changes this industry experiences."

In addition to his computer skills, Wetherbee also has the ability to communicate effectively with booster members and season ticket holders. He has proven himself to be able to work in all capacities of his position, as he developed and maintained Fresno State's ticket office budget as well as supervised game day ushers, ticket takers, ticket sellers and parking lot attendants.

The Kalamazoo, Mich., native earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University, majoring in sport administration with a minor in business administration. He is currently working on completing his Thesis and anticipates receiving his Master of Arts Degree, with a concentration in sport administration, from Ball State by December.

Wetherbee, a newlywed of less than two months, said he and his wife, Tracy, are looking forward to the opportunities that await them in San Diego.

"I'm excited about San Diego and the possibilities I have here," he said.

Ihde began working in the offices at Qualcomm Stadium in February of 1980 and was promoted to ticket manager two years later. She plans to travel and spend more time with her family.
