Nik Turner joined San Diego State as an assistant athletic trainer in 2014. He works directly with the football, men's and women's tennis programs. Prior to arriving in San Diego, Turner served as an assistant athletic trainer and head football athletic trainer at North Carolina A&T State from 2011-14. He also completed a summer internship with the Seattle Seahawks in 2009. A native of Boynton Beach, Fla., Turner graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in health sciences, specializing in athletic training. While at Central Florida, Turner served as an athletic training student for several varsity sports including football, women's basketball, and softball. He was then a graduate assistant working with football and tennis at the University of Northern Iowa. Turner completed his Master of Science in exercise science and health promotion with a concentration in performance enhancement and injury prevention, graduating with honors in 2012 from California University of Pennsylvania. Turner is currently a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA). He is also a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) and is certified by the National Association of Speed and Explosion (NASE). Turner resides in San Diego with his bull mastiff, Nala. |
