Megan Taormina began as a learning specialist and academic advisor at San Diego State during the 2014-15 school year. In her position, Taormina mentors and tutors in the Student-Athlete Academic Support Services (SAASS) Department, working specifically with the football program. She meets with the student-athlete in a one-on-one setting, helping him or her acomplish academic goals through a variety of study skills and techniques. Taormina was also an adjunct instructor and the learning workshops coordinator at Grossmont Community College for three years. Taormina has both a master's (2013) and bachelor's (2010) degree in English and comparative literature from San Diego State, concentrating on children's literature. She completed the San Diego/Imperial County Community College Association (SDICCCA) internship program in 2013 and was a teaching associate (2012-13) and teaching assistant (2013) at SDSU while working towards her master's degree. Taormina is a member of the Modern Language Association, the Children's Literature Association and the California Association of Teachers of English. A San Diego native, Taormina and her husband, Anthony, live in La Mesa. |
