  • Attendance for football and men's basketball increased dramatically during the 2010-11 year. The football average went from 24,464 in 2009 to 34,133 to 2010. That is a one-year increase of 39.5 percent.



  • Men's basketball sold out 13 of its 15 regular-season home games in 2010-11, including the final 10 home games. For the season, SDSU averaged 11,668 fans for 15 home games. That shattered the previous school record average of 7,821 set during the 2006-07 season.

Television ratings

  • In San Diego County it skyrocketed for San Diego State football and basketball this season. In 2010, the football team averaged a 4.4 rating for the six games that were available on basic cable (up from a 1.1 average the year before). The Poinsettia Bowl game drew an 11.5 rating.

  • The basketball team averaged a 7.5 rating in the county for the 17 games that were available on basic cable, more than tripling its average audience from the previous year. For the Sweet 16 game against Connecticut, the contest averaged a 20.0 rating and averaged 175,000 households for the duration of the game.
