PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The American Athletic Conference announced its all-academic team for 2017-18 on Wednesday, which featured 28 Aztec rowing honorees.

Nominations for the All-Academic Team are submitted by each of the AAC's member institutions. To be eligible for the honor, a nominee must have competed in an American Athletic Conference-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.

In addition to their AAC all-academic honors, a program-record five Aztecs-seniors Sara Avery and Tara Montgomery, junior Emaleigh White and sophomores Laura Keane and Daria Peck-were named national scholar athletes by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association following the conclusion of the 2018 season.

The Aztecs completed their fourth season in the AAC, finishing sixth in the conference in May at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, N.J. At the conference championships, SDSU freshman coxswain Hannah Broadland earned first team all-conference honors, while sophomore Alana Grollo received second team honors.
