COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State's Marissa Moreno has been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. It is the first career MW weekly award for the sophomore.

Moreno led the Aztecs to a sweep over Utah State last weekend, their first sweep of the season, by going 2-0 with a 1.08 ERA in two appearances across 13 innings. The right-hander struck out 12 batters against just three walks, while limiting the opposition to a .140 average.

On Thursday, Moreno tossed a one-hitter in a 2-0 SDSU win, pitching six innings of no-hit ball until a single led off the seventh inning. Moreno retired the first 17 batters she faced, allowing the one infield single and two walks, while striking out five. On Saturday, Moreno picked up the win, allowing just two runs on five hits and a walk over six innings of relief, while setting a career high with seven strikeouts.

On the season, Moreno was 6-16 with a 3.29 ERA in a team-high 155 1/3 innings. She struck out 81 against 52 walks, while limiting the opposition to a .275 average. In conference play, Moreno was 4-7 with a team-low 3.08 ERA in a team-best 75 innings. She finished MW play with 41 strikeouts and 20 walks, while recording five complete games and two shutouts, limiting her opponents to a .259 average.

San Diego State finished with a 20-31 overall record in 2018, including an 11-13 mark in MW play for sixth place. The Aztecs won six of their final eight games of the season, including two of the final three series.
