Championship Central | Day Three Results

CLOVIS, Calif. -- The San Diego State Track & Field team wrapped up the third day of the Mountain West Outdoor Championships Friday evening at Veteran's Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif. On a warm and windy afternoon, the Aztecs dominated the prelims of the sprints and will send a combined 13 athletes to the finals in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes Saturday.

The Aztecs will enter the final day in 11th place, but did not have an athlete competing in four of the seven events that have been scored thus far.

Ashley Henderson continued her outstanding senior season by taking first in both the 100 (11.10w) and 200 (22.67w) meter dash prelims. She will look to repeat as conference champion in both events Saturday, along with the 4x100 relay.

Henderson will be joined in the 100 meter finals by fellow seniors Simone Glenn (3rd; 11.30w) and Rochene Smith (4th; 11.34w) and freshman Callista Fletcher (8th; 11.67w).

Glenn (4th; 23.23) and Smith (7th; 23.66) will also be competing against Henderson in the 200 meter dash final, along with Lisa-Anne Barrow (2nd; 23.23) and Jalyn Harris (8th; 23.74).

Barrow had a very busy evening. Along with qualifying for the 200 meter finals, she took sixth in the long jump (6.06m; 19' 10.75") and then immediately had to compete in the 400 meter prelims, where she finished in second place with a time of 54.58.

Barrow will be joined in the 400 meter dash finals by Tyra Lea (4th; 54.93), Jalyn Harris (5th; 55.06) and Lakin Hatcher (9th; 55.92).

Angela Wilson and Jasmine Young both PR'd to advance to the finals. Wilson finished the 800 meter run in 2:10.30, the second best time of the evening and Young clocked in at 1:01.39, good for fifth place, in the 400 meter hurdles.

UP NEXT

The Aztecs wrap up the Mountain West Championships Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m. PT with the javelin throw. Despite entering the final day in 11th place, the Aztecs will shoot up the standings due to the high volume of sprinters they have competing in Saturday's finals. SDSU will also be competing in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, events they won last year. All events will be streamed on FloTrack, which is available with a subscription.

THE NOTE

After recording personal bests in high jump, long jump and 800 meter run in the heptathlon, Asia Smith recorded another PR Friday, finishing the 100 meter hurdles in 14.24 seconds.
