SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State baseball senior outfielder Chase Calabuig was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Google Cloud Academic All-District Team on Thursday morning.

Calabuig, a two-time Mountain West All-Academic Team selection, two-time MW Scholar-Athlete, and recent recipient of the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award, is SDSU's first Academic All-District selection since current Cleveland Indians outfielder Greg Allen earned the honor in 2014. Calabuig is also the fifth player in program history to receive the distinction.

The Mission Viejo, Calif. native owns a 3.65 grade point average as a senior kinesiology major on the Mesa. On the field, Calabuig is hitting .347 with five home runs, four triples, 20 doubles, and 40 RBIs. Calabuig has started all 48 games this season and has reached base in 45 and among the Mountain West, Calabuig ranks 10th in batting average, eighth in hits (68) and slugging percentage (68), and leads the MW . with four triples. Calabuig's 20 doubles are the 11th most in the nation.

Calabuig is fourth among all active NCAA Division I players with 226 career games played. Calabuig, who started his career earning Freshman All-American honors in 2015, is 13 games shy of tying the SDSU program record in games played.
Calabuig currently rides a 47-game on-base streak at home, the longest streak in Tony Gwynn Stadium history, and leads SDSU with 23 multi-hit games in 2018.

The SDSU baseball team plays its final regular-season home series of the season this weekend, hosting San Jose State for a four-game series beginning Friday at 6:00 p.m.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees to be announced in June.

The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed here for baseball and softball, and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools and other affiliations.
