Meet Preview | Desert Heat Classic Live Results | Steve Scott Invitational Live Results

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State Track & Field team will once again be competing in multiple meets this weekend. The majority of the Aztecs will be competing in the Desert Heat Classic at the University of Arizona, while four Aztecs will head up the coast to compete in the Steve Scott Invitational at UC Irvine. This will be the final weekend of competition for the Aztecs before the Mountain West Championships May 9-12.

Due to temperatures reaching the mid-90's during the day in Tucson, the Desert Heat Classic will run in the evening. This meet features three Pac-12 schools (Oregon, Arizona and Arizona State) as well as Northern Arizona, UTEP, CSUN and New Mexico State.

The first event for the Aztecs is the discus throw at 4:00 p.m. PT, followed by the long jump at 4:30 p.m. The running events will follow the University of Arizona's senior day ceremony, which begins at 5:30 p.m. Asia Smith will be the first Aztec to run, participating in the 100 meter hurdles at 6:00 p.m. The final event for SDSU is the 4x400m relay, which starts at 9:20 p.m.

At the Steve Scott Invite at UC Irvine will be Maya Brosch (400m hurdles), Cindy Flores (800m), Kiana Hunter (100m & 200m) and Cassidy Towner (1500m).

Neither meet will have a live stream, but live results will be available on the SDSU Track & Field schedule page.

Ashley Henderson Named Mountain West Track Athlete of the Week

Ashley Henderson was named the Mountain West Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon. Henderson took first in the 200 (22.66) and second in the 100 meter dash (11.06) at the highly competitive Mt. SAC Relays last Saturday. Both of Henderson's times were the second best in the nation over the weekend.

Henderson's times are the fastest in the Mountain West so far this season and top ten in the nation. Her time of 22.66 in the 200 meter dash is also the best on the NCAA West Qualifying List.

Her time of 11.06 in the 100 meter dash was just 0.05 seconds off the school record she set last season and a SDSU record for a senior. The runner that bested her on Saturday, USC's Twanisha Terry, set the all-time collegiate record for a freshman (10.99).

This marks the third straight week an Aztec has taken home the Mountain West's weekly honor. Lisa-Anne Barrow won for her performance in the long jump two weeks ago and Rochene Smith was recognized last week after winning the 100 meter dash at the Triton Invitational with a time of 11.50.
