COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State women's tennis senior Jana Buth has been chosen for the all-Mountain West singles team, the conference office announced Wednesday. The all-conference honor is the first for Buth in her four seasons on the Mesa and is the sole award for the Aztec women's tennis team this season.

Buth earned a 9-11 (.450) singles record (1-3 MW) during the 2017-18 season, with wins over two of her five nationally-ranked opponents. Her first win over a ranked player came in the team's 5-2 win against Cal State Fullerton where she logged a 4-6, 7-5, 6-0 victory over No. 125 Genevieve Zeidan, while the second came in the team's 4-3 loss at UNLV when Buth topped No. 53 Aiwen Zhu, the MW Player of the Year, 6-2, 6-1.

Buth's singles play this season earned her two MW Player of the Week awards, the first on Jan. 31 following her 3-0 starts in both singles and doubles play at the beginning of the regular season, and the second on April 4 following her two wins over ranked opponents. Buth was one of two MW women's tennis players to earn more than one weekly award this season, topped only by MW POTY Aiwen Zhu of UNLV who claimed three weekly conference honors.

Over her four years on the Mesa, the Kaiserslautern, Germany, native tallied 28 total wins in singles, most of which she earned playing in the No. 1 position throughout her junior and senior seasons.

SDSU enters the 2018 Mountain West Championship as the No. 4 seed (10-12, 1-3 MW) and will face fifth-seeded Wyoming in the quarterfinals on Friday, April 27, at 10 a.m. at Julia Davis Park in Boise, Idaho. Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament and a link will be available on GoAztecs.com. Live video will also be available Saturday and Sunday for the semifinal and final matches only.
