SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team travels to the Central Valley this week where they will play Fresno State on Tuesday, April 17. Due to rain in Fresno on Monday evening, first serve at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center has been moved to 11 a.m.
In conference play, the Bulldogs (8-11, 2-0 MW) enter Tuesday's match sitting at 2-0 after they logged a 4-3 win over Nevada two weeks ago, as well as a 4-2 victory at San Jose State last weekend. The team's overall record includes losses against all seven of its ranked opponents this season, and a 4-2 record at home. Last season, the Bulldogs traveled to America's Finest City to claim a 6-1 win over the Aztecs with a win in doubles and on singles courts one through five.
Last Friday, the Aztecs (10-10, 1-1 MW) recorded their first conference win since the 2014-15 season when they edged the Nevada Wolfpack 4-3 at the Aztec Tennis Center. SDSU dropped the doubles point but came back in singles action to claim the Mountain West matchup. Junior Jenny Moinard logged her seventh straight singles win to improve to 16-3 in dual play, while senior Paola Diaz clinched the win with her third straight singles victory in two weeks. Diaz also won her doubles match with senior Jana Buth to combine for a perfect weekend (2-0).
Live results of Tuesday's match in Fresno will be available on GoAztecs.com. Following the midweek dual at Fresno State, the Aztecs return home for their final regular season match against San Jose State on Saturday, April 21, at noon for Senior Day. A special presentation honoring SDSU seniors Buth and Diaz is set to begin around 11:45 a.m. at the Aztec Tennis Center.
