SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team is set to hit the road this week as it visits its first conference opponent of the season, the UNLV Rebels, this Friday, March 30. First serve is set for 10 a.m. at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas.
The 9-5 Rebels enter Friday's match coming off a 5-2 win over Marshall on March 21, and a 4-2 loss to Denver on March 24. UNLV boasts the 53rd-ranked junior Aiwen Zhu, three-time Mountain West Player of the Week. UNLV's Friday dual vs. SDSU is one of two conference matchups for the Rebels this weekend as the team is also set to host San Jose State on Sunday, April 1. Friday's match is also the fourth straight of a six-match homestand for the Rebels, who are 8-1 on the courts at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Aztecs, currently 8-8 on the season, look to capture their first away match win of the season in Friday's contest vs. the Rebels. SDSU logged a 5-2 win over Cal State Fullerton last Friday at the Aztec Tennis Center and tallied its 10th doubles point of the season. Senior Jana Buth also notched her first singles victory (4-6, 7-5, 6-0) over a ranked opponent, No. 125 Genevieve Zeidan, in the dual against the Titans.
Following this weekend's competition, the Aztecs travel to Long Beach State on Saturday, April 7, at 1 p.m., before returning home to the Aztec Tennis Center to take on San Francisco on Sunday, April 8, at 2 p.m.
