SDSU Notes vs. Boise State

Aztecs Play Host to Boise State This Weekend in First MW Home Series
The San Diego State softball team looks to get back on the winning track this weekend with a home series against Boise State. The Aztecs (9-21, 0-3 MW) will meet the Broncos (21-10, 4-2 MW) at 6 p.m. PT Thursday, 6 p.m. PT Friday and noon PT Saturday at SDSU Softball Stadium.

Thursday's game will be webcast on the Mountain West Network and all three games will have live stats.

SDSU has been a bit streaky this season and is in a funk at the moment. San Diego State opened its season 1-8, then won seven of nine games (7-2) with a pair of victories over nationally ranked teams. Since the 6-2 win over then No. 21/20 Minnesota on March 2, however, the Aztecs have gone 1-11.

Out of San Diego State's 21 losses on the season, four have come in extra innings, four with the international tiebreaker rule in effect, six by one score, four by two runs and four by three scores.

Heading into the weekend, Katie Byrd leads the team in hitting with a .305 average, 12 runs, 29 hits, seven doubles and a .359 on-base percentage. Molly Sturdivant (.278), meanwhile, leads the squad with four home runs, 20 RBIs and a .444 slugging percentage, and Aris Metcalfe has a team-high six stolen bases in six attempts.

Marissa Moreno (26) and Alex Formby (24) are 1-2 in the Mountain West in appearances, while Moreno's 23 games started are six more than No. 2 in the league. Formby is 6-8 with a 2.76 ERA over 83 2/3 innings, limiting the opposition to a .218 average, while Moreno is 2-11 with a 3.47 ERA in 88 2/3 innings.
