SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State opened its season-long homestand in style Friday with a 19-3 conquest of St. Bonaventure at Aztec Lacrosse Field.
Playing in its first night game of the season, SDSU snapped a two-game losing streak, improving to 3-2 overall, while the Bonnies remain winless on the year at 0-5.
The Aztecs received goals from 12 different players, including Jill Haight and Natalie Peel, who each netted a hat trick, while Elizabeth Rourke, Grace McGinty and Kirstie Greenlaw finished with two tallies each.
The two teams were knotted at 1-1 before SDSU broke the contest open with nine straight goals, capped by Greenlaw's unassisted strike at the 14:46 mark of the first half. SBU ended its scoring drought almost two minutes later when Gabrielle Bradley found the back of the net with an assist from Kathryn Yoder. However, the Aztecs responded with another nine-goal surge through the halftime break, including the first collegiate scores from freshmen Isabelle Flud and Matilda Adams.

- SDSU maintained a sizable 22-2 advantage in draw controls, with Peel and Bailey Brown finishing with four apiece, while Haight, McGinty and Morgan Taylor totaled three each.

- The Aztecs outshot the Bonnies 38-11, including a 30-5 margin on goal. The Scarlet and Black also converted 5 of 11 free position attempts, including a 4-for-8 clip in the first half.
OF NOTE
- SDSU's 19 goals were the team's highest total since posting a 20-6 rout of Saint Mary's at home on March 22, 2015.
- The Aztecs' 16-goal margin of victory was their most since logging a 22-6 triumph over LIU Brooklyn also at home on March 8, 2014.
QUOTABLE
"This was a great team victory," said SDSU head coach Kylee White. "I was very encouraged with our draw controls tonight. Those really gave us with a lot of momentum and the ability to run our offense. We had a lot of new people come in and play hard, really challenging and making an impact.
"Jill (Haight) really dominated every aspect of the field. She was scoring goals, getting draw controls, assisting and causing turnovers. That was a lot of fun to watch. I was also very happy with the way Natalie (Peel) attacked tonight. She looked very fast out there. We didn't have the ball at our end very much defensively, but that just shows we did better as a team in the midfield. We were ready to play tonight."

San Diego State will be back in action on Monday, March 5, when it plays host to Presbyterian College in a special matinee at Aztec Lacrosse Field. Game time is set for 3 p.m. PT.
