SAN DIEGO - No. 18 San Diego State trailed early and never recovered Saturday afternoon in a 14-2 loss to T-No. 2 USC at the Triton Invitational at nearby UC San Diego. The defeat evened the Aztecs' record to 3-3, and the Women of Troy moved to 5-0.

USC scored the first three goals of the game, two from Paige Hauschild and one from Kelsey McIntosh, before the Aztecs could get on the board. Emily Bennett made it a 3-1 game with 2:58 left in the period and added a second goal 57 ticks later, which made it a 4-2 Women of Troy lead. USC, however, scored twice more before the end of the frame to lead, 6-2.

After the first quarter, USC shut down the Aztec offense while keeping its own offensive unit firing on all cylinders. The Women of Troy two goals in both the second and third periods to take a 10-2 lead into the final eight minutes where they added four additional goals to provide the final margin.

THE NOTE
Freshman Emily Bennett has led the team in scoring three times this season and all three have come in the team's last four games.

STAT OF THE GAME
Bennett scored twice to lead the team in scoring for the second time in as many games at the Triton Invitational. She has four multiple-goal performances in 2018.
