SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State swimming and diving team continued a successful 2017-18 campaign on Friday, defeating Air Force, 199-92, and Cal Poly, 165-132, in a double dual meet at the Aztec Aquaplex.
The Aztecs started the day off strong, capturing first and second place in the 200 medley relay. Alexa Clayfield, Morganne McKennan, Summer Harrison, and Peyton Wilson teamed up to post a first-place 1:45.47, while Ava Howard, Caitlin Delany, Courtney Vincent and Larisa Tam recorded a 1:47.22 to collect second place.
McKenna Meyer followed that with a first-place time in the 1000 free at 10:14.42. Elli Ferrin and Morganne McKennan posted first-place finishes in the 100 back (57.72) and 100 breast (1:04.49), respectively.
Meyer later followed her first-place in the 1000 free with another top finish in the 200 IM, recording a time of 2:05.79.
The Aztecs nabbed three of the top four spots in the 200 fly, with Frida Berggren leading the way with a time of 2:03.40. Racheal Kelch and Courtney Vincent finished in third and fourth, respectively, with times of 2:08.99 and 2:09.08.
Summer Harrison grabbed first in the 100 fly, posting a time of 56.06.
Alexandra Caplan led the way on the diving board, collecting first place in both 1-meter and 3-meter action. In 3-meter competition, Caplan posted a season-best 342.15 that is good for the second-best score in the Mountain West this season. Delaney Gallagher finished in second in 1-meter competition (278.70) and third in the 3-meter (282.75).
Now winners of each of its last 21 dual meets, the Aztecs are idle until Saturday, December 30, when it hosts Oregon State for a swim-only dual meet at the Aztec Aquaplex.
