* In the last four-plus seasons (since some of the seniors arrived in 2013), San Diego State has won two Mountain West championships, won or shared three division titles, played in four bowl games (winning three) and posted a 46-17 record for the 16th best winning percentage (.708) nationally during that span.

* Entering play this week, the Aztecs are one of just 21 teams with two or fewer losses (four unbeaten teams, five one-loss teams and 12 two-loss teams).

* San Diego State and New Mexico will meet for the first time since Oct. 10, 2014. The Aztecs have won the last five encounters and have not lost to the Lobos since Oct. 18, 2008.

* SDSU head coach and New Mexico graduate Rocky Long has been on the winning sideline of this game each of the last 13 times the teams have met (three as the SDSU head coach, two as the SDSU defensive coordinator and eight as the UNM head coach).

* SDSU, which has won 11 games each of the past two seasons, is looking for its third consecutive campaign with a double-digit win total. That has never occurred in the 95-season history of the program.

* A victory Friday will give the Aztecs just their 10th season with 10 or more wins.

* Prior to the last two seasons, San Diego State went 37 years without recording a 10-win campaign.

* Last Saturday, San Diego State recorded its third straight victory with a 42-23 win over the Wolf Pack. The Aztecs have won their last three games by a combined score of 122-37, and have outrushed the opposition, 1,177-102 in those contests.

* For the second time this season, senior running back/kickoff returner Rashaad Penny was named the Walter Camp National Player of the Week. Penny rushed for 222 yards and two touchdowns, returned his FBS record-tying seventh career kickoff for a touchdown and in his first play on the punt return unit in his college career returned a punt for a touchdown.

* Penny's 429 yards broke Marshall Faulk's 27-year old school record, are the most in an FBS game this season and are the ninth most in FBS history.

* Penny ranks among the national leaders in many categories, including 1st in rushing yards (1,824) and all-purpose yards per game (223.8), and 2nd in rushing yards per game (165.8), total touchdowns (22) and points scored (132).
