Women's Soccer Earns No. 2 Seed at MW Championship

San Diego State earned a No. 2 seed at next week's Mountain West Women's Soccer Championship at UNLV. The tournament is scheduled for Peter Johann Memorial Field on Oct. 31, Nov. 2 and Nov. 4.

The Aztecs, who won in double overtime on Friday at New Mexico, finished in a tie for second place with Boise State, but held the tiebreaker over the Broncos by virtue of their 2-0 road victory during the regular season. SDSU and regular-season champion San José State both received byes into the semifinal round of Nov. 2.

San Diego State will face the winner of No. 3 Boise State and No. 6 Air Force, which is slated for Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 4 p.m. PT. SDSU's semifinal game on Thursday is also set for 4 p.m. PT.

The other side of the bracket features fourth-seeded New Mexico and fifth-seeded Fresno State, which will clash on Tuesday at 7 p.m. PT. The winner will oppose the Spartans on Thursday at 7 p.m. PT.

The Mountain West title game will be played on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. PT. Every game will stream live on the MW Network.

San Diego State has allowed only four goals this season to the other five teams in the championship field, with three coming in its 4-3 double-overtime win at New Mexico. The other was a goal to Fresno State. SDSU also posted a 3-0-2 record vs. the field with all three victories coming on the road.

The Aztecs enter the tournament playing their best soccer of the campaign, having won a season-high four straight games. SDSU (10-7-2; 7-2-2 MW) has also matched a school-record with its seventh straight 10-win performance, tying a stretch from 1993-99.
