SAN DIEGO -
As has been the case in every race this season, senior Lily Seynaeve was San Diego State's top finisher at the Mountain West Cross Country Championships (6K), racing at the conference meet on New Mexico's North Golf Course Friday morning.
The Corona, Calif., native clocked in at 22:45.96 for 53rd place. Classmate Cindy Flores recorded a 24:42.16 time for 78th, and junior Chrissy Calain logged a 25:44.50 6K time (81st).
Freshmen Mackenzie Mora and Renee Phillips did not finish. Because the Aztecs only had three competitors run, they did not register a team score.
No. 2 New Mexico won its 10th straight conference title, becoming the first team since 2008 to accomplish the feat. Mountain West Athlete of the Year Ednah Kurgat and Freshman of the Year Weini Kelati led the Lobos to victory on their home course.
The Scarlet and Black next heads to Seattle, Wash., for the NCAA West Regional. The regional meet is Fri., Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Golf Course at 10:30 a.m. (PT).
