COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State senior defender Stacie Moran has been named the Mountain West Women's Soccer Player of the Week, the league announced Monday morning. The award is the first for SDSU this season and the third of Moran's career.

Hailing from Alta Loma, California, Moran helped the Aztecs defeat Wyoming and Colorado State this past week at home, securing a spot in the 2017 MW Championship, which will be held in Las Vegas from Oct. 31-Nov. 4.

In a 2-1 win over the Cowgirls, Moran helped limit Wyoming to just five shots and one corner kick, while playing the full 90 minutes. Offensively, Moran took three shots, which was the third-highest total among all Aztecs, and put one on target.

Two days later vs. the Rams, Moran was a key figure in shutting out a CSU side that had not been blanked since Sept. 29, covering six games. During Colorado State's six-game stretch, they had scored nine goals (1.5 gpg) and had scored two goals in each of its previous three games coming into the SDSU match. Moran helped neutralize a Rams attack that featured 15 different goal scorers in 2017, and limited them to only seven shots and three corner kicks. On the other side of the field, the senior took the second-most shots on the team (4) and had one on goal in what ended in a 3-0 San Diego State victory.

Moran enters the final week of the regular season with three career conference player-of-the-week awards. Moran's first career award came during her freshman year (Sept. 15, 2014) and her second came the next season on Aug. 24, 2015.

SDSU returns to action this week when it travels to Albuquerque to face New Mexico on Friday. The regular-season finale is set for 7:30 p.m. MT/6:30 p.m. PT and will stream on the Mountain West Network.
