Penny, a Norwalk, Calif., native, ranks among the national leaders this season in many categories, including tied for first in total touchdowns (13), tied for first in total points scored (78), second in all-purpose yards (1,395), third in all-purpose yards per game (199.29), third in rushing yards (1,046), fifth in rushing yards per game (149.4), tied for fifth in scoring (11.1), sixth in rushing touchdowns (10), tied for eighth in kickoff return touchdowns (1) and 25th in rushing yards per carry (6.38). Additionally, according to Pro Football Focus, Penny has the third most rushing yards after contact (680) and is second nationally with 46 missed tackles off rushes. He is averaging 97.1 yards per game after contact.

Last Saturday against Boise State, Penny eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards for the second consecutive season, becoming the third FBS player in FBS play this season to break 1,000 yards and the sixth Aztec with multiple 1,000-yard rushing seasons in program history. Breaking the 1,000-yard mark in just the seventh game of the season, he is tied for the third-fewest games to reach 1,000 yards in program history. Only Donnel Pumphrey (2016) and Marshall Faulk (1992) reached 1,000 yards in fewer games (both in their sixth game).

The back-to-back Mountain West champion Aztecs will look to get back on the winning track after falling for the first time last Saturday night by a 31-14 score to Boise State. SDSU, which started 6-0 for the first time since 1975, plays host to Fresno State at 7:30 p.m. PT Saturday at SDCCU Stadium. The Aztecs enter the game with a 6-1 record and 2-1 mark in MW play, while the Bulldogs are 4-2 and 3-0.

Tickets are still available for the game against the Bulldogs, but fans are encouraged to purchase tickets early for better seat location.
