Storylines
- San Diego State heads to the Centennial State this week for Mountain West games at Colorado College and Air Force. The Aztecs will face the Tigers on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. MT before visiting the Falcons on Sunday at high noon MT. Both games will stream on the Mountain West Network.

- SDSU hits the road during a crucial part of the conference campaign. Entering Friday's games, six teams are within three points, or one victory, of first-place San José State, which has 13 points. UNLV, New Mexico and Air Force have 12 points, the Aztecs have 11, and Boise State and Wyoming each have 10. There are five games left on the MW slate.

- San Diego State is coming off a frustrating weekend that saw it play 220 minutes in three days, earning two ties in the process. The Aztecs outplayed SJSU on Friday, but could not find the winner in what ended in a 0-0 draw. Then on Sunday, SDSU allowed Fresno State to tie the score in the 75th minute and could not find the winner yet again in what finished in a 1-1 decision.

- In the game vs. the Spartans, San Diego State outshot the visitors, 13-8, including 5-0 in overtime, and put five more shots on goal (8-3). SDSU also took one more corner kick than SJSU, 4-3. Aliyah Utush led the way with six shots and four shots on goal, and Darcy Weiser put pressure on the Spartans off the bench as she took three shots in 53 minutes.

- In the game vs. the Bulldogs, the Aztecs took a 1-0 lead thanks to Mia Root's team-leading sixth goal of 2017 in the 65th minute. At the time, San Diego State was in complete control and appeared on its way to victory. Then in a blink of an eye, Fresno State's Marina Kerrache headed the ball at waist level off a rebound to knot the score with 15-plus minutes left in the second period. The score remained the same for the balance of the second half and overtime, and finished with SDSU owning an advantage in shots (12-9), shots on goal (5-4) and corner kicks (7-5).

- With the shutout of SJSU, Gabby English picked up her 12th career blanking to put her in a fifth-place tie in school history with Sophia Perez, who earned letters at SDSU in 2002 and 2004. Next up on the career chart is Rachel Boaz, who had 18 shutouts in 2011-12. English also ranks seventh in school history in career goals-against average (1.22).

- Utush assisted on Root's goal vs. Fresno State to give her a team-high four on the season. With her four helpers, the senior has moved from ninth on the school's career list to fourth all-time, recording 19 assists in 76 career outings. Fay deLeon is third in SDSU history with 27 career assists. Additionally, Utush ranks first in career assists in the Mike Friesen era, surpassing the likes of Haley Locker (18; 2011-14) and Hannah Keane (16; 2011-14).

- Root leads San Diego State with six goals, four more than the next closest Aztecs in Utush and Esther Arnarsdottir. At the Mountain West level, the forward is tied for fifth and is tied with Ashley Cardozo of Utah State for the most goals scored by a freshman. Root is also tied for seventh in the MW in points (13) and goals per game (0.43).

- Weiser has seen in uptick in playing time over the last six games, averaging 36 minutes compared to seven over the first five games of the season. In the last six games, the sophomore has taken her season total of 11 shots and earned her first career start vs. Fresno State. She is one of six freshmen or sophomores to earn a point out of the nine Aztecs to do so for the year. Weiser has one goal and two points with the goal coming vs. Nevada when she played a then-season-high 51 minutes.

- The Aztecs will face a Colorado College program that they have had success against over the years. San Diego State is 5-1-2 all-time vs. the Tigers, who joined the league as an affiliate member ahead of the 2014 campaign. Since Colorado College became a regular in the Mountain West, SDSU has gone 4-0-1 against them and has won three straight. In games played at CC, San Diego State is 1-1, losing in overtime, 3-2, in 2003, and winning in 2015, 3-1.

- SDSU will stay in El Paso County to face the Air Force Academy, a team it has gone 19-1-1 against, beginning with the first meeting in 1993. The Aztecs are unbeaten in their last 16 games with the Falcons (15-0-1) and will ride a 10-game series winning streak into the Academy. During the winning streak, SDSU has outscored AFA, 24-3. Three of the last seven meetings, however, have required overtime. The Aztecs are 8-1 all-time at Air Force.
