- San Diego State won its fourth straight game dating back to last year, is 10-2 in its last 12 games and 23-3 in its last 26 games.
- The Aztecs have won the last four games in which they have been an underdog (2015 at San Jose State, 2015 vs. Utah State, 2016 vs. Houston and 2017 at Arizona State).

Streaks Broken
- San Diego State defeated Arizona State for the first time in 12 all-time meetings. The Aztecs entered tonight 0-10-1 against the Sun Devils.
- SDSU snapped a 28-game road losing streak at teams that called the Pac-12/Pac-10 home at the time of the game. San Diego State's last previous victory at a Pac-12/Pac-10 team was a 25-0 win at Oregon State on Sept. 13, 1975.
- The Aztecs snapped a 23-game losing road losing streak at Power 5 Conference teams dating back to a 41-13 win at Kansas on Sept. 25, 1999.

Consecutive Wins Against Power 5 Schools
- San Diego State has won consecutive meetings against Pac-12 teams (SDSU defeated California, 45-40, last season) for the first time since 1994-95 (defeated California, 22-20, on Sept. 10, 1994 and defeated California, 33-9, Sept. 2, 1995).
- The Aztecs have won consecutive meetings against teams from Power 5 Conferences (defeated California, 45-40, last season) for the first time since 1982-83 when the Aztecs defeated Oklahoma State, 35-6, on Nov. 27, 1982 and California, 28-14, on Sept. 10, 1983.
A Rare Visitor Win In The Desert
- Arizona State entered tonight 14-4 in its last 18 home games and 23-6 in its last 29 home games.
- Arizona State entered the game 18-2 in its last 20 home games against teams not ranked in the AP Top 25 at the time of the game.
