SAN DIEGO - San Diego State rowing's rising sophomore Laurie Tenenbaum competed in the 20th Maccabiah games as a member of the Israeli rowing team on July 11-12 in Beit Yerach, Sea of Galilee. Tenenbaum was a part of the team's pair on Tuesday and the four on Wednesday, placing second in each race on the 1500-meter course.
On Tuesday, Tenenbaum and teammate Chen Oshri competed in the women's pair, finishing their race in 6:14.78, just 10 seconds behind the first place finishers (USA2, 6:04.30), nearly 15 seconds ahead of the third place boat (USA1, 6:39.24) and 34 seconds ahead of Israel's second boat (6:48.02).
Tenenbaum and Oshri, along with Irina luster Vorvoreanu and Lena Pavlov grabbed another silver medal in Wednesday's women's four race, finishing in 6:01.50, a mere eight seconds behind USA (5:53.12) and 23 seconds ahead of Israel's second boat (7:24.29).
A native of Tel Aviv, Israel, Tenenbaum enters the 2017-18 season as a sophomore for the Aztecs after racing in several events in the 2016-17 season at the bow of the SDSU varsity four boat. Prior to the 20th Maccabiah, Tenenbaum spent four years competing as a member of the Israeli National Rowing Team, competing once in the world championships and twice in the European championship.
