SAN DIEGO - San Diego State water polo senior Caroline Israels has been named to the 2017 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Division I All-America Team. The honor marks the third consecutive season in which she has landed on the squad.
Hailing from Pompano Beach, Florida, Israels earned her way onto the honorable mention list after leading the Aztecs in goals (67), assists (42), steals (87), multi-goal games (20), hat tricks (9), multi-assist games (11) and multi-steal games (21). At the end of the regular season, she was named the Golden Coast Conference Player of the Year for a second time and voted to the all-GCC first team for the third consecutive year.
Israels' contributions in 2017 helped SDSU capture its fourth straight Golden Coast regular-season title after producing a 7-0 record against league competition. The Aztecs' effort capped a four-year run in the GCC that saw them go 26-0 in regular-season outings.
For San Diego State, the All-America award marks the 22nd straight season in which an Aztec has been named an All-American. As a three-time honoree, Israels becomes the seventh player in program history to earn at least three All-America awards and is the first since Kelly Campoli (2009-12).
SDSU finished the campaign ranked 13th nationally in the final Collegiate Water Polo Association Top-25 Poll, which was its highest ranking since 2013.
