SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State baseball team, newly crowned Mountain West Tournament champion, has been assigned to the NCAA Regional at Long Beach State being hosted by LBSU. Texas and UCLA round out the four-team field for the double elimination tourney.

The No. 4 seeded Aztecs will face No. 1 seeded Long Beach State in their opening contest on Friday, June 2 at 8:00 p.m. PT at Blair Field. The opening contest will have the No. 2 seed Texas Longhorns facing the No. 3 seed UCLA Bruins at 4:00 p.m.

All of the games at the Long Beach Regional will be televised on ESPN2 (Friday) or ESPN3 (Saturday-Monday).

SDSU earned the Regional berth after defeating Fresno State, 5-3, Sunday afternoon in Albuquerque, N.M., to capture the conference tourney championship for the fourth time in the last five years and with it the league's automatic bid into postseason play.

The Aztecs will enter the Regional with a season record of 41-19, marking the third time in the past four seasons that San Diego State has reached the 40-win plateau.

SDSU faced Long Beach State (37-17-1) in a pair of mid-week games during the 2017 season and defeated the Dirtbags on both occasions. The Aztecs also won both of its contests against UCLA (30-25) including one in Lake Elsinore and one in Los Angeles. SDSU has not faced Texas (37-22) since a three-game series at Tony Gwynn Stadium in 2005

The winner of the Long Beach State Regional will advance to the Super Regional against the winner of the Stanford Regional that includes Cal State Fullerton, Brigham Young and Sacramento State in addition to Stanford.
