ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - San Diego State and Fresno State will face off this afternoon in a game with the 2017 Mountain West Championship and a berth in the NCAA Regionals at stake. The contest is the finale of the conference tournament and is set to get underway at 1:00 p.m. MT at New Mexico's Santa Ana Star Field in Albuquerque.

The teams have spilt their two meetings against each other in Albuquerque over the past three days.

On Thursday (May 25), the Aztecs defeated the Bulldogs, 18-10, to open the tournament proceedings. Yesterday (May 27) it was Fresno State gaining a measure of revenge as it downed SDSU by the score of 12-1.

Weather conditions have been conducive to offense over the first three days of the MW Tournament. Strong winds gusting out to right field have been prevalent and have helped account for the 19 home runs over the tourney's six games thus far.

The Bulldogs come into today's contest with a record of 35-24. FSU has been on a positive run over the last couple of weeks as it has won 15 of its last 18 games.

San Diego State, meanwhile, has a record of 40-19. It marks the third time in the past four seasons that the Aztecs have reached the 40-win plateau.

A number of Aztecs have etched their names into the SDSU single-season record book with stats that rank among the top 20 in program history.

Andrew Martinez's 19 doubles tie for 15th on the all-time list while Tyler Adkison's 15 home runs are the fifth-most in a season ever by an Aztec. In addition, Adkison's 61 RBI tie for 17th.

Among other top 20 marks set in 2017 are the 14 hit by pitch by Danny Sheehan (tie for fourth), Sheehan's six sacrifice flies (tie 12th), Brett Seeburger's 10 pitching victories (tie ninth) and Jacob Erickson's 33 pitching appearances (tie ninth).
