SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team will travel to Las Vegas, Nev., this Thursday, April 27, to begin competition at the Mountain West Championships, hosted by UNLV at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. The ninth-seeded Aztecs are set to take on eighth-seeded Utah State at 10 a.m. in the first round. The conference tournament runs through Sunday, April 30.

The Aggies enter the tournament boasting a 12-10 overall record and are 2-3 in conference play and they have not played any of the same opponents as SDSU. The Aztecs and the Aggies have also never faced one another in head-to-head or tournament play since Utah State joined the conference in 2013.

San Diego State wrapped its regular season with a road loss at San Jose State on Saturday, April 22, where the Spartans blanked the Aztecs, 7-0, to add to three other conference losses to UNLV (7-0), Nevada (5-2) and Fresno State (6-1).

The two other first-round matches are set to begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday and include (7) Air Force vs. (10) New Mexico and (6) Boise State vs. (11) Colorado State.

The winner of the match will face the No. 1 seed, UNLV, in the quarterfinals on Friday, April 28, at 10 a.m. Live results will be linked on GoAztecs.com and complete tournament coverage will be available on the conference website, TheMW.com, throughout the weekend.
