San Diego State and the University of San Diego met up at the Aztec Aquaplex Wednesday afternoon for an informal long course meet, swimming nine events over distances in meters. The event capped another successful campaign for the Aztecs and saw SDSU athletes set two pool records in the process.
Neither team had its full complement of swimmers participating in the meet and no team scores were kept.
Aztec freshman McKenna Meyer was the first SDSU swimmer to enter the record books as she set a new pool mark in the 200 individual medley in 2:24.90.
Fellow frosh Morganne McKennan also put her name on the record chart as she captured the 100-meter backstroke in 1:16.00.
The Aztecs captured seven of the nine events with Meyer and McKennan emerging as double winners. Meyer also won the 200-meter freestyle in 2:11.80 while McKennan added a win in the 200 breaststroke in 2:45.30.
In addition to Meter and McKennan, SDSU's other first-place finishes came from Summer Harrison in the 100 butterfly (1:04.20), Kate Santilena in the 100 backstroke (1:09.30) and Frida Berggren in the 200 backstroke (2:32.80).
San Diego State finished its 2016-17 campaign with a perfect 8-0 record in dual meets and second place at the Mountain West Championships. A total of 13 swimmers and divers earned all-conference accolades this past season.
